The Spire
I found this old piece of lumber with very soft edges washed up on the beach, and I dragged it to my van to bring home, without yet knowing what it wanted to be. Some time later while taking a welding workshop at The Crucible I made a sort of metal harness that would hold the driftwood upright. Then I used 3 sizes of hole saw bits to create openings for some rounds of stained glass (I routed recessed collars for the glass to snug into). After it was all assembled I mounted it

I am an Open Book
I created this paper garment in a bookmaking workshop at the Feather River Art Camp. First I pilfered a big sheet of (white) hand-made paper from the paper-making workshop next door. Then I threw it into a mud muddle, added handfuls of things I found around camp like wild berries and lichens, splattered on some inks, and smooshed it all around with my bare feet. I created a book-binding dovetail joint in the middle, and molded it with fabric starch to fit my own torso. After
