I found this old piece of lumber with very soft edges washed up on the beach, and I dragged it to my van to bring home, without yet knowing what it wanted to be. Some time later while taking a welding workshop at The Crucible I made a sort of metal harness that would hold the driftwood upright. Then I used 3 sizes of hole saw bits to create openings for some rounds of stained glass (I routed recessed collars for the glass to snug into). After it was all assembled I mounted it in my yard at an angle to catch the morning sun. I also installed a solar-powered string of lights to illuminate the glass from behind when it's dark outside.
